EdInsight Overview: Standards and PSSAs- Two things that go hand in hand that are very important in the classroom. It is the responsibility of the teachers to make sure that his or her students are prepared when they take the PSSA Exam; however, sometimes it seems that sticking to the standards is not enough and more focus has to be put on the needs of the students in order to get them to succeed. The hardest part is trying to figure out what these needs are. Well, OnHand Schools seems to have the answer with EdInsight. EdInsight is an on-line tool that allows users to access the test scores of their students. These scores are not only broken down by Math, Reading and Writing but also broken down so that you may see the exact number each student missed in each subsection of these categories. EdInsight makes data driven instruction easy and effective even for those who cringe when they hear the word data. Features:
-Access PSSA and 4Sight Exam scores from each year the student has taken these exams
-Access and trace Student grades throughout the years
-Can Access information on student information including IEPs
-Convenient access to Student's schedule and contact information
-Includes a Curriculum Mapper
Strengths:
-Easy to use and navigate

-Helpful when planning especially for PSSA remedial classes
-Great tool to track student needs to help teachers differentiate
-Can not be accessed by people other than the teacher of the students and the administration. Teachers who do not actually work with the students can not access the information.

-School must allow teachers to access EdInsight
-Some people feel as if EdInsight offers TOO much information about the students

1) Use EdInsight in order to help you pinpoint the needs of your students in terms of the PSSA exam. Considering this program allows you to specifically see where your students individually struggle you will have an easier time planning your lessons and differentiating instruction without all of the time consuming guess work.
2) Use EdInsight to locate information involving not only the students standardized test scores but also their schedules, previous year grades and contact information. Because of these features. EdInsight is a helpful tool for teachers who hate bugging the guidance counselors for information all of the time,
3) Depending on how your school uses EdInsight, you might have access to a curriculum mapper that allows you to access unit outlines used by your fellow teachers. This is an especially useful tools for long term subs and new teachers who have not previously taught a certain unit and/or book.
